Tiger, it's a great conversion and all I had to do was drill a couple of more holes.
I put some sound proofing and junk on the inside and re-fitted the plastic internal csw panels, looks 'factory' ish. |

Looks like I might need to grind a lip off the front and rear edges where the door seal fits as the 88s have a L shape to them.
Did you do this on yours? |

I don't think I did, I managed to fit the original seal, I only had to drill a few holes, so before putting the new (old) panel on, line it up with the csw version and make sure you drill holes....saves a few minutes. Though I left the front edge profile series 'seam' on, that the 'Defender' panel does not have. So if you look at the top of it, that's where the roof rack bracket should be, I left it off, because I couldn't be bothered grind down the bracket to fit.

I had to cut the lip of the rear and side for the door seals on mine!
PS: I had the rear windows removed and panelled over for added security before they were sprayed, nice job and from a distance (not too far tbh) looks standard / original. ![]() Click image to enlarge Adventure isn't paved! |

I got my conversion plates from Foley Special vehicles.
![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge All you have to do is remove the windows and drill out the rivits, rub the paint back and key the surface, then glue the panels over the top and then paint. They also come with the inner strengthening ribs which with a bit of a measure you can glue back in place and once painted (must get round to that) it will look original, especially if you cover it with some sound proofing. ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge No need to lift the roof at all and you have no lip to worry about ![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter ![]() |

.... oh and insurance won't let me fit solid sides. They won't insure me if I do...
![]() Even though it's more secure they then would class it as a van and they don't insure vans |
