Silkaflex is great stuff, I used it to seal the hard top to the body cappings due to a leak, worked very well, just make sure you have something wet like a damp J cloth when doing it, it's easier to wipe and get smooth with something wet or damp, like when plumbers lick their fingers when sealing the edge of the bath.

If you are expecting to bond the bracket you will have to 'key' both the bracket and the area the bracket is to be bonded to, or else eventually the bond will break.

My snorkel is bonded to the frame with sikaflex. I didn't etch the surfaces. Still stuck. Just left it to cure for 24/36hours held in place with a ratchet strap.

I'd have thought a glossy surface would be a better bond for a sealant / adhesive in this instance with less possibility of moisture getting behind it.

I don't know but my fish tank certainly ain't etched/roughed up where the joins are and there's 400kg of water being held in by the sealant. So my snorkel being attached the same way worked for me.
Sikaflex sets upon contact with moisture. So shouldn't be a problem. |

Silkaflex is great gear I use it all the time although it is very strong & works well as a bonding agent
for a while, I would be looking for a more permanent fixing, but it saves drilling unwanted holes in the body work!! When you come to finishing off the beading have a spray bottle with some fairy liquid & spray the Silkaflex & your hand then run your finger along the bead it will give you a nice smooth finish plus it wont stick to every thing you touch |

You can buy it in Screwfix it's Sika EBT,I used quite a few tubes when building my camper van, stuck the solar panels to the roof with it .You do need a minimum of 2mm thickness of Sika though.

I have used the same Sikafelx for exactly the same application and it has worked a treat:

Sikaflex is brilliant stuff but think about the job logically, you are not gluing the bracket directly to the screen frame, you are gluing it to the paint on teh frame. Therefore the bond to the screen frame will only be as good as the bond the paint and primer has to the frame itself..... Steve.

my snorkel isnt the same as that but i used small stainless nuts and bolts to hold the bracket onto the window frame (with v.careful drilling) and then a blob of sikaflex to make it all watertight.
