Hello Venomator
I visited a local bodyshop recently, who specialise in Morgans, and they were using Sonax as well as Autoglym... I've used Autoglym over the years, and trust their range. http://www.autoglym.com/products/t/3-step-routine/interior SKIP https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html |

don't like sonax, worse out there but nothing great
for leather care talk with a saddle maker, they sell heaps in the horse trade and better prices and quality to my opinion. Switched to bee-wax and neatsfoot oil based saddle oils and for cleaning saddle soap on all leather in the household. Doesn't smell new-car but can't beat it for long term leather conservation. |

Just a heads up that Neatsfoot oil can rot natural stitching thread but I doubt it would harm synthetic thread which I guess is what LR use?
As for what I use on the leather seats on my XS - seatcovers, and a wipe over with warm soapy water when the covers come off at trade in time. On my other vehicles, I've usually dressed leather seating and trim with Conolly hide food. Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

Wow, only been at work for a day and so many useful and helpful replies, thank you so very much guys, it is much appreciated...
One other question: I am talking about Premium Leather upgrade, so would one recommend treating the seats from brand new, or waiting a while, say a year or so... @Scebble - I am hoping Premium Leather will be the real deal, foolish old git that I am, and this means my seat will be parked on leather at all times... What an unintended, but perhaps appropriate slip... At least you used an 'm' rather than 'n', opportunity lost... Rog... The GREEN One... MY2016 Urban Truck Build Thread - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic40548....al[/color] |

Well in theory at least you should regularly feed the leather to keep it supple and stop it cracking. So, no don't wait a year! I say "in theory" as most modern leathers should stand up to daily wear without that level of care. But it is a Land Rover so prevension is better than cure |

Not lost at all.....German translation of 'mutter' = mother. 'M' was intentional as nutter could be deemed as a badge of honour where mother can't! I would treat from day one with a decent leather feed. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! @K9F - Hmmm, as opposed to mutter(ings!)...
Although I do apologise for he X - F thing Mal, totally unintentional really... @EveryoneElse - A big thank you to everyone for your inputs and thoughts on leather care... Loads of food for thought, as well as food for leather, which is going to be a key starting point for me, so it is good to know I should start the protection immediately and not leave it a period before doing so... I am going to be extraordinarily OCD with Mamba's replacement, as it will be For Life, not just a year this time... And I mean not just underside and leather but new paintwork and everything else I can think of,so there may be more questions elsewhere from this treasure trove of knowledge and experience we share in our joint passion, THANK YOU ALL...
