what size tyres are you running?

2006 Defender 110 Td5 USW Zermatt Silver

Was running Gwyn Lewis extreme kit, and 265 tyres. Kit is about £1000, but that is OME springs and dampers, and all the bits you will need. I ran standard front irons, but cranked rear radius arms. Did very high mileage, many countries, lots of laning, and trials with this setup and it's just fab. Will be soon buying the same to put on the 110, if other bits stop failing on it.

Any more questions just ask.

My 90 is lifted by about 70 mm. Without any other corrections. I have been looking into that as almost everybody says I need it but Do I?

My steering is still self centering maybe a little less strong as before, but for sure not a danger on the road.
I have a true trac in the front axle and that helps for goinng straight too so maybe because of the True track I don't need to correct the caster.

What about anti-roll bars Andy? Are you running them front or back, and if not is the on-road handling still acceptable?

I ran my NAS 90 with the 2" OME lift for 12 years without changing the stock trailing arms. No issues with bushings or handling. However, it was easy to see by looking at the upper bushings that they were "pinched" more on the bottom and slightly open on top. (they were Genuine bushes, and lasted the 12 years no problem)

I have the same lift on my Td5 110, and will be doing the bushings this week. (I have only had the lift for 6 months, and the bushings were worn when I got the truck last year) I did spend some time looking, and have picked up cranked trailing arms for the rear. I know that it will give less "squeeze" on the bottom of the new bushing, when the suspension is in it's standard position, and also when it's dropped to the bottom of it's travel.

To me, it is one of those situations of thinking "well, the trailing arm is coming off, I'm upgrading to poly, so why not upgrade the arm?"

I removed the ARB's, and the handling was still better than standard. This was mainly due to the OME sports dampers, as they are valved to open very slowly, giving good cornering, even with roof tent on. Think it would be different with lesser dampers on.

Hvae spoken to gwyn lewis. I think it'll be the 1' (30mm) lift with the ome setup. has any one got pictures of theirs in action? 90/110 not fussed. just want to maybe excite myself.

he says with the 30mm I wont need the propshaft. and I think he said its about 11' downward travel

Thats what I had on mine (30mm). Although I had the extra HD springs on rear as carry a lot of kit.

This is a mates, with the same kit. It's strange when you have the kit, as it's just so smooth you don't know how much it's doing.

Can't wait, its going to be like Christmas!

Oddly though his website doesn't currently list springs. I hope he can source those too.
