Not quite done, need to put gutters on and run the 40A supply out from the house but we're getting there. Future plans include an extension to double the width of it, and an adjacent higher shed for a vehicle ramp.

Usual problem of too much crap in there of course!

Barney 12.

That garage is bigger than my home and that includes a garage. Big Cry

The defender has to stay on the drive as the garage is now my workshop/stores. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to Censored us off.

Nice work Thumbs Up would of worked out a hell of a lot cheaper than buying one pre-fabricated too! Too much crap and not enough time to do something with it is definitely something I can relate to!

Because of paranoia about privacy and security I will not be putting a photo up, but rest assured that as a farmer I have no shortage of usable shed/storage/workshop space, I just have to share with all the farm stuff like hay and sheep and tractors and trailers and junk, oh and my dad who is a lot of a hoarder. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

I have serious Garage envy now... Big Cry

Whatever little space we could have built one on SWMBO has commandeered for her veg plot and built raised beds all over... Evil or Very Mad

So Mamba and its successor will be stuck on the drive forever... Rolling Eyes

Well, at least until we move, when I will make sure we have a desirable garage, either in situ or with plenty space to build one... Mr. Green

OK, I'm obviously niave or thick or both Rolling Eyes

How can a picture of a garage reveal someone's location? I guess you could drive around the location on someone's profile (if they have decided to be specific enough) and try and match the image to what you can see. But really?

Surely the MUCH bigger risk is actually posting a picture of your car with its registration number visible. Which funnily enough countless people on this forum regullay do. Indeed there is even a thread encouraging you to reveal your registration!!!! One phone call to a dodgy copper or DVLA employee will tell you the name and address of the registered keeper and bingo!

I agree about the registration posting - not only vehicle theft but also plate cloning, which is pretty rife in the UK.

However, reference photographs, there is something to consider:

Many cameras now have geotagging (GPS) features and may be recording the location information and those who are savvy will be able to see exactly where the photo was taking by analysing the Exif or XMP file, which is embedded into the photo file. Those who are not savvy, but are aware of this, can import the photo into one of the many online photo analysers and this will also pin-point the location.

Thankfully, third party host tend to try and strip this information to protect privacy but it is something to consider if you are directly uploading to a forum or using a host which doesn't hide the Exif.

Here is some more info on the topic: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geotagging

As for garages, mine is pretty dull - two car, detached, but I did lay some nice floor and put up some cabinets - will try to locate a photo but it isn't exciting.

My favourite garage story was in Classic & Sports Car magazine; they did a feature on a chap who owned an original Mercedes 300SL Gullwing. He used to go out, drive the car hard (think he lived near the Alps) and then could drive the car up a ramp and into this livingroom. He'd created a parking spot in room and used to crack open a bottle of red wine and listen to the car cooling down and smell all the great smells of a classic sports car cooling down. Bow down

Poor timing of severe winter storm and 100mph wind in through the open doorway right between finishing the walls one week and putting the doors on the week after.

Good point made there. My two camera's don't have the GPS function. I also have location services switched off on my phone camera.

I'll have to try and get a photo with GPS enabled and upload it to see if Defender2 strips the GPS data.

OK this photo has GPS enabled and I've checked it can be used to find the location. The EXIF was intact and showed the lat/long.

I will then download from here and check again.

If by the time you see this there is no photo then it didn't strip it!

OK, downloaded the above image from the forum thread and the gallery and there is no EXIF info. So Defender2's host must strip the EXIF from the image. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
