Age isn't the key factor IMHO, condition is! Good luck with the sale as mentioned. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

^^ Agree with Mal. Mine will be 7 years old this month, 80/some thousand km, and they are just like new. Not a crease in the leather, not a sign that someone ever has been sitting in them. Not the slightest sign of use, or of weakening of the seating or backrest support. If you take a bit care of these SVX Recaros, they will stay like new forever.
Obviously like Mal, I have to original LR seat covers on them, actually have those on all 7 seats. Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

Immaterial if you're not buying! They will sell to someone that is prepared to pay what they 'think' they may be worth. If what the seller 'thinks' and what any potential buyer 'thinks' are poles apart the seller will soon get the message as they will remain unsold.
Alternatively if anyone thinks that strongly, someone may 'pm' him out of decency to tell him the price may be too low or too high accordingly. They are perhaps IMHO one of the best, albeit expensive modifications with regards to comfort you can do. Also if looked after and at the right price you will always get a decent return if not all your money back on them if you do decide to resell at a later date. Mal why you getting into such a tizz over this? I only began by wanting confirmation that they were indeed 6 years old, as the asking price suggested that may have been wrong......
You are however correct that my opinion is immaterial. As is yours.. |

As stated for the reasoning above age is not the issue and should not affect the asking price. No tizz at all. Just confused at the unnecessary public inputs from people with no intention to buy potentially ruining a sale, wrong price or not? I know where you are coming from and what you were trying to imply perhaps? I thought the same hence the reason I sent the OP a 'pm' two days ago as per the forum rules.
Apologies to the OP seller. Good luck with the sale.... Again! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! Last edited by K9F on 5th Sep 2015 11:58am. Edited 1 time in total |

Fair enough but how do you know if people are interested or not? Why do you think I wanted confirmation what age they were?
Since when did it become a rule that you needed to send a PM in order to get a response? |

Apologies for my mistake I thought this was the avenue you may have been heading?
In answer to your question to confirm the asking price was correct and to comment accordingly. If you really want them pitch him an offer yourself! As stated they are really great seats and worth the outlay for the right price if the desire is there and better than the Corbeaus perhaps? The Corbeaus will probably win my vote. Especially as I can purchase brand new ones for less than 6 year old Recaros..
I've sat in both and the Recaros certainly aren't that much (if any) better. Anyway best of luck to the OP with the sale. This dragon's out....... |

Are they 6 years old or not? They may well be less than 6 years old as your question on the forum appears not to have been answered. My seats came from a 10 year old TD5 but were only two years old. If say perhaps they were only two years old for example would that then justify more the asking price? Not in my book, condition over age always wins on a specific second hand item for me especially if it has not advanced in technology or design over the last few years.

I think you could easily achieve your asking price if you fixed the issues and put a set of runners on them

Paul, the photos only show the driver's side seat base but it seems to have staining on the outside edge.
Is this a true representation of the condition of that seat and is the passenger one the same? If there isn't marking, it would be worth updating the photos. If there is some staining, perhaps it is worth mentioning whether there is there marking to the fabric of the seat backs as well? Click image to enlarge |
