Touching up
I have been sent a touch up kit which has paint and a separate laquer. I presume it's as simple as doing the colour bit, waiting for it to dry and then dobbing on the laquer. Not supposed to mix them together am I?? (Metallic plaint by the way)

You've got it right Jonno, colour first and lacquer when colour is dry. Thumbs Up I started with nothing and still have most of it left!

The advice from Rickydodah is spot on.

There are lots of good tutorials on the Web/Youtube about how to complete these repairs well.

If its larger/visible, then its worth looking at these, I generally build the paint up above the surrounding undamaged area, then cut it back, the best way to do so is with very light abrasives then finish with a cutting polish to restore the gloss finish.
If you want to do that, I'd recommend:

Then a good cutting compound, such as 3M
take your time and as long as you have a good match with your paint, you can make stone chips disappear!

Chipex is another alternative for the DIY.
