The advice from Rickydodah is spot on. There are lots of good tutorials on the Web/Youtube about how to complete these repairs well. If its larger/visible, then its worth looking at these, I generally build the paint up above the surrounding undamaged area, then cut it back, the best way to do so is with very light abrasives then finish with a cutting polish to restore the gloss finish.
