First of all, thanks to Martin for pointing this out.
I picked one up at the weekend and tried to swap it for the Alpine 133BT in my 2013 USW XS. Trouble is the multi plug and the subwoofer outs are handed on the new unit and stretching them to fit makes a dogs dinner of the wiring behind the radio to the extent that I couldn't get the unit back in the dash. I tried all sorts of things but eventually I took the dash off. The multi plug is itself is connected to another plug fixed to the underside of a bracket by two plastic lugs, one a fir-tree. How I did it in the end was by moving the fir-tree plug to two more holes on the other side of the bracket and rotating it, which re-routed the wiring enough for the radio to go fully home. No great achievement but it might help someone else in the same situation and save them half an hour. The reason I swapped one for the other was the old one rattled, and I just could not fix it. This one is rattle-free For £50 it's a great fix.

Mine turned up today plugged straight in! Sounds a lot better than the last piece of crap I had in!!!

Picked mine up and fitted today. Great value, better sound than 10 year old LR one and bluetooth for telephone a bonus.

Fitted to the XS this morning, I had to swap the cage which I wasn't expecting but the cabling all seemed to fit OK for me

For me, I changed to give me Bluetooth audio control (prev/next) which the factory fit 133 does not and cannot The firmware upgrade from Alpine which should add this feature causes problems with the LR supplied variant of the 133. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Please can someone confirm that the CDE-173BT unit is a straight 'plug-and-play' in a 2012 Defender?
