Why did I leave it so long to buy a Defender
Hi all,

I can't believe I waited so long before buying a Defender I traded in my 64 plate c class AMG line Mercedes and drove away in my defender it banged and I could hear every bit of road noise but the only thing I struggled with was holding the smile for the 150 miles home.

New to the forum but some great defenders and information on here.

Cheers

Leeroy

Good on you Leeroy, here's to many more happy miles with your new motor 🍻, I've had Landys of various descriptions for 20 odd years and I still love driving them. Enjoy.

Welcome Leroy, they are great aren't they? Mine has been in the garage a week and I've had a Freelander 2. Perfectly ok car but when I saw my car waiting for me I grinned. Was really happy to get back in it. This is my 10th Land Rover and nothing else I've had has ever come close to that feeling.

C 2015 110 USW XS in Santorini with premium contrast leather seats in tan/black, black headlining and with Dual Finish alloys (in the garage, now on Wolf rims with Goodyear MT/Rs)

2012 '62' 2.2 X-Tech 110 USW now gone ...
1984 90 soft top with full roll cage, 200 tdi engine etc now sold
2012 USW XS 2.2 "FUU" now gone....

Great news Leeroy and well done on the brain rewiring!! Much like your previous choice of car, my old man has a 2015 E class version with every toy under the sun. 3L, 8 speed auto gearbox, paddles shift, lane assist, cameras, SatNav, leather etc. Recently helped him drive home from Spain to London. 2 days and 2000km of characterless driving on Europe's motorways. Granted I probably got out less tired and not deaf, but boring as hell. Flew back to Geneva the next day and the 100km of motorway from the airport to home, at just 110kmh (as opposed to 140kmh for mile after mile) were bliss. Probably used more fuel than my old man's car does over a thousand kms, but who cares. Character, bags of it. Enjoy. Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

Welcome, there's plenty of nutters on here who've owned nice/fast/luxury motors...but prefer the rattles, leaks, noises of a Defender.
You'll fit right in!!!

It seems that every time I take my Defender out and park it somewhere, someone comes up to me and comments on it or asks questions about it. Never happened with top of the range Disco or RR Full Fat or the wife's BMW.

Lots of smiles per gallon. Very Happy
