The decibel scale is logarithmic which, I think, means each point on the scale represents a 10x increase (or decrease) in sound. So two points is pretty good. I used to be an avid hi-fi magazine reader and it's been a while so I could be wrong on this!

A 2db change is the smallest the human ear detects however, the actual amount of energy wobbling your ear drums is still reduced considerably so maybe it makes for a more relaxing ride anyway..

Barney - how is the bonnet insulation holding up so far?
I'm about to do the same, but heard that over time the insulation can un-stick and sag onto the engine.

Curious to know how yours is doing after a few months?
