Nice truck, though confused by the 2006/300 Tdi spec - was this a special build or an export model? Surely would have been on a 5 by then? Or am I being dim?

RoW (rest of world) spec defenders continued to be offered with the 300tdi where it was legal to buy such things (like parts of Africa) through 2006. 2007 onwards it was TDCi or nowt. It's quite possible this was one of the batch of RoW TDi defenders that became available in 2008 (LROi bought a 110 SW and farted around with it for ages). Some dealers refused to sell in the UK, as they weren't approved or whatever is needed to get them registered. I guess registering this one might not be as easy as filling a form in. Read up on the LROi 110 and get some googling done
