Range Rover Air COn
Shot in the dark but there are some very knowledgeable people on here

Just returned from France in my wife's Range rover L322 the weather wasn't great but the AC was working fine, as soon as the temp picked up again it stopped.

The last couple of years the AC hasn't worked only when the annual trip to the Alps comes around do I think about the AC.

So last year had it gassed nd sure enough it worked fine, running for about 1 month and then just stops mid holiday.

This year again didn't worry about it until holiday confirmed, after last year had it regassed leak tested and double checked.

It was working fine on holiday until a reasonably hot day got back to the car and its stopped again.

Then had a brutal 10 hour drive with kids at 87 degrees- Not fun. I didn't really mind but the wife and kids wined somewhat plus they drank water like fishes which meant lots of toilette stops!

Any thoughts, I was thinking about buying a UV black light and seeing if I could spot any leaks myself first?

Reluctant to spend another £50 on a regass if its a slow leak.

Any thought gratefully received, I feel I should get it sorted rather than leaving it until the next holiday

Have had similar symptoms with another vehicle if it starts to work okay again at lower temperatures. Turned out to be the air gap was too large on the magnetic compressor clutch. Worked fine with a cold engine and in the winter but warm engine and high air temperatures and it would either not engage at all or would cycle on an off too frequently. Noticable by the click-click-click of it cutting in and out every 5secs or so.

Never bothered to fix it myself but there was a lot of info on various Volvo sites about re-shimming the clutch. Not too sure on how accessible it is on an L322 TDV6 or V8 though.

At least that's easy to check.

Thanks I will check it out.

Always nervous of after market quick fixes, but certainly looks like the problem is a very slow leak
