300tdi Defender lower rigid intercooler pipe replacement.
Poking around under the bonnet the other day when I happened to have a good look at the lower metal intercooler pipe that runs past the alternator. I am sure I have read somewhere in the past that due to the crimping carried out to give clearance past the alternator that this pipe restricts the breathing of the engine and this can be improved with a replacement non-crimped pipe.

I have found a full kit HERE from Bearmach but it will cost close to £250 with postage. Can anyone point me in the direction of a more reasonably priced replacement? I only want the lower pipe and it doesn't have to be stainless steel.

I bought a lovely SS one from Brunel 7-years ago as I disliked the "flat" in the OE one plus of course the SS one looks so much nicer (still nice & shiny).
Apparently Brunel aren't manufacturing them anymore so I don't know where to suggest but I do recall that at the time it was around the £50 mark. ONE LIFE, GET IT!

No, that's the standard part that he wants to replace as it has a flat in it where it passes the alternator.
The SS one I bought from Brunel is a lovely piece of kit and shaped slightly differently so it is the same diameter all the way along and has nice crimped flanges at the ends. ONE LIFE, GET IT!

This one has the flat in it...

I suppose we can't see the side we need to, to decide if it has the flat in it...

Both links are to the same part number but the photos are taken from different sides so as you say, can only see the flat in one of the photos but am 100% certain that it is there. ONE LIFE, GET IT!

The Twisted item here looks like the only option though it is the same item I linked to originally sold by Bearmach but branded as Double S. Far better price on the Twisted website???

Was hoping to get just the single full bore lower pipe individually for about £50 or less, not bothered about it being stainless.
