Hello all!
I have just bought a bargain of eBay, £4.99 for an auto dimming mirror off a Range Rover classic, they're about £90 buy it now Anyway it's here in front of me and I'm trying to find out which pins do what for the power connector. There are 6 pins and from the only picture I can find online, only the right hand 3 are used. Can anyone give me any pointers? I had worked out the three circuits, on the pictures there looks to be a link wire from the mirror to the econoseal connector

Ok quick update, I took the mirror apart to look at the circuit board. I've worked out that from right to left it is reverse, ground and ignition, which is good! My next two questions are;
1. What type of connector is it? 2. The next three pins on the board say DR, BAT and CAD. Anybody got any ideas? I'm guessing DR is a live feed from the interior lights so the map lights come on with the courtosey lights? And maybe BAT is a permanent live so the map lights always work instead of just with the ignition? Again any input would be most appreciated 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

The mirror should have a link harness from the mirror to a 3-way male Econoseal connector, which connects to the 3-way female Econoseal connector on the Range Rover's harness.
I believe that the link harness you need, is PRC8560 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Land-Rover-Range-R...1549637658 Click image to enlarge However, PRC8560 is ridiculously expensive from Land Rover - http://www.brit-car.co.uk/product.php/8999...g_assy_rrc I believe that the connector on the mirror, is a JST VH 3.96mm N type 6-way connector - Documentation = http://www.jst-mfg.com/product/pdf/eng/eVH.pdf These can be bought from RS 6-way female housing - http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/pcb-connector-housings/7620746/ Female terminal (to fit 0.5 - 1.25mm² cable) - http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/pcb-connector-contacts/7620692/ You have to buy 5 x connector housings, and 100 x terminals (and a pair of 3-way male/female Econoseal connnectors) - but, this still works-out a lot less than buying Land Rover's link harness. . Briliant! thanks paul
I struggled to get a picture of the correct mirror, let alone the link wire! i have a number of kaput computers at home, i'll have a look to see if there is one of those connectors on there 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

JST VH connectors are computer connectors - so, you may be lucky and find one in an old computer.
Several connector manufacturers make 3.96mm pitch PCB connectors, which are largely interchangeable. However, there are differences in the way that they latch. . Paul. 1989 Arles Blue 2.5TD 110 Hardtop 1999 Epsom Green Discovery II 4.0 V8i 'XS' |

Which clearly shows only 3 pins of the 6 used if nothing else
I personally wouldn't bother with the pair of Econoseal connectors, it just adds bulk and complexity. As you're making a loom, it can be continuous to the 6 way connector. The terminals are also available from CPC with a minimum order of 10, except they are for 0.33-0.83mm^2 cable. 0.5mm^2 cable is still plenty to power the mirror http://cpc.farnell.com/jst-japan-solderles...dp/CN18498 If you don't want the faff, RS do a kit for a single connector (and a 3 way housing): http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/power-supply-accessories/0381845/ 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Thanks bpman, that would be good. I did get the map lights too. I'm hoping to work out what the other three pins do. I'm convinced that the one marked DR is live from the interior lights to use the map lights as courtosey lights as well.
I want as much functionality from my £4.99 as possible! 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

Thanks dgardel I've already bought the Range Rover one. Although you never know I might end up using a different one if I can't get this one going! 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon
