Can you not move the pintle to the rear crossmember, where it is designed to be, and where the trailer lunette is designed to find it?
These trailers were designed to be very stable and relatively foolproof, they're not usually improved by modifying in this way. Moving the pintle is simple, redesigning the trailer is not! |

Thanks Blackwolf, but as I say, I want to keep the tow step arrangement.
These sankey said are regularly modified from what I've seen, so hopefully someone knows if / how this can be done  |

Hectic, mk1 has a folding support leg, mk2 has a fixed jockey wheel, mk3 has disc brakes and pivoting jockey wheel.
I think I've seen a picture of the towing eye being moved to the underside of the A frame, but I'm not certain how much effort it would involve in adjusting the braking effect. Nor how such a mod would be viewed by the authorities. Moving the pintle is a better solution, even if it was a case of fitting removing as required. I run mine with an adjustable slider plate but sat low enough to clear the rear door with the pintle open, and also means I can connect/disconnect the trailer without the spare wheel stopping the pintle from opening. Just on the jockey,I was hoping to replace my fixed clamp with a pivoting one so the jockey doesn't get fouled y the spare wheel on back door.. Is this not possible on a Mk 2? Any idea how to raise the Pinole on a slider using the NAS tow step platform? Cheers |

Anything is possible! I considered moving the jockey wheel on mine but the brackets aren't cheap, plus the tombstone mounting plate also needs moving back (from memory). For me I find the door opens about halfway and it's enough to get the dog/pushchair in and out so parked the idea.
Using a slider plate on a NAS step won't work, aesthetically at least as the mounting plate would need to sit higher than the step. One consideration could be using old school lowering blocks on the trailer springs. HH,What size tyres did you fit on the Boost alloys? just changing the wheels and fitting the same tyres won't raise the height.

I've read the original post I know that I'm not the brightest button in the box but here's my take on it.

Boost type Alloys 16 inch yes?) if the trailer rode correctly with the original wheels on why would the same size rims lift it? My naoto hitch is mounted on an NAS tow step which is lower than the rear cross member. So the combination has exaggerated the downward slant of the front of the trailer. I want to keep the. Tow-step arrangement and wonder how big a job it is to move the towing eye and brake piston from its position mounted above the A-frame to below it to create a more level trailer? Am sure I have seen it done but not sure how much of a faff it is with the brake so?? (I think it's a Mk 2 (widetrack) I would say it's easier and possibly safer to take the NAS type step off and fit the Nato hook where it was intended to be. Or am I missing something else and should I stop drinking coffee and go to specsavers. Uncas Uncas |
