Penguin, as to the raised air-intake, is the purpose going to be just that, a RAI, so to reduce dust intake, or do you want it to be a snorkel, meaning also to be used for wading? If the latter, you have to make sure that the interior airpipe work under the hood and connecting to the airfilter box is also absolutely tight, which it is not ex factory. Such a absolutely waterproof kit is being engineered by Entreq in Germany. I am not sure if at this very moment it is already available, but if not, it should not be long as I understand. Just in case, below is the link to the item.

Main purpose is indeed to prevent dirt/dust intake.
Also making sure the engine doesn't stall due to something in front of the air-intake. Had this issue with our 2000 110. Due to some plastic on the road it flew on the 110 and stayed in front of the intake.

Maybe later I'll take the time to work on the complete wading setup. So also taking care of the axle and fuel tank breathers 28/02 - Loss of a good friend...

Last weekend work before the first test next weekend.
Installing water-tank and creating table 3.0 and fill her up with the stuff we "need" on our trips.

To-do list growed a bit, but that will be for after our trip in the Alps

Possibly (and hopefully) the last add-on before maiden-trip.

At risk of repeating myself, this is a modification with great care for detail, and extremely well documented in your blog. Thumbs Up
So when are you off on the maiden voyage to the Alps?

As an aside, and not sure where you intend to go in the Alps but if this is near your route, I would recommend it:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Col_de_la_Bonette

All paved but very steep. It is still down as one of my best road trips of all time - the scenery is breathtaking.

Some advice, part of the group I went with (seven cars) didn't do the scenic loop at the top: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cime_de_la_Bonette

I would really recommend doing this final section. It is easy to skip but, for me, was the highlight of the day.

I met up with a friend who decided not to do the Bonette loop last week and he is still annoyed at himself that he didn't do it - this is five years after the trip! Laughing
