Netherlands 2003 Defender 90 Td5 PU Caledonian Blue
fuel pressure regulator replacement.
Yesterday I found that my fuel pressure regulator was leaking so I ordered a new one. Today just before dinner I thought I will replace it, it would only take a few minutes looking at Rave.
3 bolts and 3 hoses that doesn't have to take long.

It took me a few hours just because the bottum bolt I hardly could get to it. It might have to do with that my engine loom is a little more tight around the engine as I needed some slack when I raised my ECU but still there is lots of hoses in the way were I wanted to have my tools.

I think I succeeded, a drive tomorrow will show if I have diesel leaks. The first stationary test looked ok.

An easy fix on a Defender but takes twice as long in a Discovery2 (1h-2h)... it is only an oil seal that needs replacing under the circlip but everyone loves spending £150 on 99% needless parts. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

Is that thru? Mine was leaking through the small hole in the part behind the circlip.
If you think that is still the case I take it apart and have a look.
I spend a little less on the part but then with shipping and the seal I paid about the same. Roel

99% of the time it is leaking past the seal below the circlip. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

Hi Red Dot, mines leaking quite badly and i was thinking of getting a repair kit but wasn't sure how good they are, I take it from your comment that you have good experience with the kits? Where did you buy it from and do you have any part numbers.

So i bought a seal kit off ebay for a tenner delivered and fitted it on Saturday, Red Dot was right the leak has been cured. Curiously the o rings on the regulator looked ok but I changed them any how.

Must have been a popular pastime this weekend Rolling Eyes Did mine on Saturday, I've a feeling mine was leaking on the lowermost fuel pipe but did all 'O' rings and seal plate anyway. The smaller 'O' ring on the plunger was damaged slightly and the lower fuel pipe one didn't come out with the pipe, maybe it had detatched from its seating position over time. Time will tell whether it's made a difference, just got to let the previously spilt diesel/oil dry off Whistle

Simple enough job, just access issues with shovels instead of dextrous hands on the ends of my arms, bit like taking the starter motor off, it's the bolt you can't see that's the pain. Would have been easier if the inlet manifold were to be removed but who does that anyway Rolling Eyes You just struggle on, swear a lot and feel smug when it's done Thumbs Up

p.s. good one for LRS Offroad for ease of getting the parts through fleabay, but I'll be back if it leaks again Mr. Green

we supply a Viton seal kit and have had lots of good feedback that this does the job instead of replacing the whole thing. Not done one myself so can only go on feedback from customers though.
