Puma speaker/Radio upgrade
Hello all, i have now had my 2011 puma for a few months and i think it is time to upgrade the speakers which come standard.

I want to keep my Landy as original as possible and not keen on cutting holes in the dash so anyone know any high quality 4" speakers which have a lot more bass etc, i am happy to fit spacers but I'm just not sure what speakers and if i will have to change the radio as well.

I know there have been a lot of posts made on this site about upgrading speakers but from what i have understood is that not all speakers will work with the standard LR radio as the power draw.

Like i said i want a pair of speakers which have a good amount of Bass as the speakers which come standard are very tinny

thanks

James

Thanks for you're reply, yes i am aware that 4" speakers are very limited on the bass side but what do you recon i am going to get the best results from?

Also would a flat sub be easy to install?

thanks

James

Not much extra bass yo get but you can improve some mid range and quality.
13cm is possible providing your happy to cut the dash.
Personally I'm not sure if I like the look of 13cm in a Puma dash.
Looks a bit like Beverly Hills women. Shocked Whistle

Very true, perhaps THE most effective upgrade.

James,

If you don't already have tweeters they make a massive difference, make the sound feel like its coming from the screen rather than your knees, also they allow the driver to concentrate on the mids and some lows and the tweeters just the high's.

If you have the stock tweeters then upgrading them and the stock speakers still makes a good improvement in sound quality.

Well worth installing a good set of components.

Sorry ignore me im clearly having a senior moment at 40!! getting confused with another thread about tweeters. I have focals 100 krs but they certainly do not increase the bass on their own the fronts are all about sound quality and bass is picked up by a sub on the cubby or elsewhere depending on where you want to put it.

Doesn't the bass rattle the pannels so much they drown out the music? Whistle Monsieur Le Grenadier

Ken how did you fix down your 6X9 speaker pods to stop them moving in emergencies or any other time.

Sound deadening I,proves the sounds anyway, not only does it reduce vibration.
It reduces engine noise and improves sound quality to boot on top of that for this very reason.

Where possible any speaker / sub that produces good bass should be secured well to a solid part of the body.
Not always possible but should be an aim to make.

After three 4 hr stints driving through Italy over our long weekend just gone, I think my wife is very convinced by sound deadening!! So it will definitely be going in over autumn. Now I just need to convince her of the validity in a Bowler Stage 2 tune.... Whistle Monsieur Le Grenadier
