following your lead.... Advice appreciated
Hi Amondeggs

A great blog with loads of info and great pictures..... Thanks.

I am heading down to the Pyrenees for the first two weeks in August and plan to follow the wikiloc route that you followed.... Just lots of questions..... Sorry!

Firstly did you have a set of back up maps for the area... I am really struggling to find any good ones, any recommended ones? Did you find many cafes/bars on the way in the small villages?

We have 13 days down there so plan to take our time, are there any small excursions from the route that you recommend?

really appreciate any advice that you can give.....

BTW the Pyrenees seem to be the holiday of choice this year, so if anybody else is heading that way it might be fun to say Hi!

Chilled beers always on board!! Thumbs Up

Cheers

Simon you will have a great time Thumbs Up

We only used electronic maps on a piece of software called comp land GPS. We had a computer in each car with software and all maps on so I suppose that was our backup lol

The villages that you pass through, and there are many vary massively. Some are quite literally 3 or 4 houses and not much else but others are interesting with some small bars etc but don't expect much. We carried all our food and water with us and did not need to shop very much. With the time that you have you will be able to explore much more. We averaged 120 miles per day which was going for it a bit Shocked

This years route included some high sections which were fantastic. These might be worth a detour for you and I can send details to you if you like??

Looking forward to seeing the photos etc from your trip Thumbs Up

Believe me Simon, with the beautiful scenery in that part of the world, taking good photos it's difficult. Truly breathtaking!

Brilliant vid.
Makes me want to pack up & set off to the Pyrenees myself.
Our next trip is planned for as soon as the snow has gone enough to do the high passes.
Thanks for posting.
Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
