Well, I've solved the problem of poor mpg.

After going back to the dealers 6 times in 5 months for various reasons (nothing fuel economy related) I've rejected the vehicle for a full refund. I bought my Td5 back off my mate so now doing 30+ mpg Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

As the miles build the 2.2 is starting to loosen up With 8500 ish on the clock the last fill up gave an indicated 27.9 MPG that is a pretty much unladen 110 running MTR's and mainly country lane stop and go (We'll call that similar to urban traffic) the odd A road cruise, with my own gentle driving style.

Compared to 10 - 12mpg that my series gave and 14 - 17 that the V8's gave i'm quite happy with the consumption. It is doing what land rover claim so no complaints here.
and since my ownership i run it on premium diesel too which i would like to think helps.

To be fair most of my problems were cosmetic, for example rust on the chassis and steering components (bright orange in sections from new) window mechanism catching inside the door. Carpet kept falling off the transmission tunnel and fouling the clutch pedal (obviously dangerous - attempted to fix three times) glass scratched inside from new. Indicator switch broke, the inner frames on the rear seats were rusting and there was a hole in the floor. Then it was just a case of a new rear diff after 1800 miles and a plethora of other minor issues Rolling Eyes 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Well, mine's at 27,7 British Miles per gallon. MY 2012 110 average fuel consumption in the last years.

There's quite a lot to consider: wind direction, speed, tyres, racking , ... Rolling Eyes

55 mph with the wind: 30 MPG
62 mph against the wind: 23 ... 24 MPG

Looking for spinnakers i.e. 50 MPG on the motorway Laughing

I have a 110 XS with roof rack, four weeks old. Milage is 4082, have been checking with an average of 26 mpg. so averaging about 350 miles per tank. Its almost a tank per day at the monument. My mission is to get up to 400 miles per fill up

Not a wise move for a daily runner covering 40k a year. I just love the defender bottom line and you only live once.

Thumbs Up

Hi Sadi

I am using Road Trip for iPhone/Ipad

Good app, have been using it for four or more years. recorded 388.9 miles today from a round trip. Mainly motorway with some traffic issues. Thats works out to be a 29.9 MPG a record for me, target is still 400.

Chuffed, that will do me for now Thumbs Up
