I know it is the other side of the island but these guys have a very relaxed campsite behind their outdoor centre and only £5 per night per person and £21 for whole family.
It is pretty basic but they also allow for open fires and have a bar onsite! http://www.angleseyoutdoors.com/outdoor-activities-wales.html |

Hello All
Update: Land Rover Solihull It’s a NO. We have no direct support from Land Rover UK PR or LRE for this idea. I was hopeful there were a few easy ways to say yes, but it’s a no. To summarise the response from LR UK PR: ‘we have a series of Defender celebrations already planned for the year’…. ’unfortunately your event doesn't fit naturally with what we are going to do’ They do however wish us well with our event. I have thanked Land Rover for their consideration of the request. .................................................................................................................................. We are on our own with this... I would welcome the opinions of those Registered, or watching this event, waiting to see 'what we have', and who may still be interested in joining in. We have two main areas to consider: Red Wharf Bay 1 Do we focus the event around Red Wharf Bay and this aspect only? We definitely have access to the beach at Red Wharf Bay Sunday Morning 16th August; We could also try to meet up the night before, with several local pubs / restaurants around the bay area. We can continue to try and build participation at RWB from Land Rover Clubs and local Working Defenders, (both these initiatives are underway). Solihull 2 Do we find a suitable ‘Plan B’ destination point in Birmingham / Solihull and press on regardless? finding a place to reconvene to mark the end of this day, if so we need ideas / local knowledge would be good, or any alternatives options ? Currently we have low numbers of D2N members signed up for this, but we still have the opportunity to get together over the weekend, have some fun, and make something of this, which is still OK by me, So for those interested... What do you want to do… SKIP https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html |

^^ To summarise the response from LR UK PR:
‘we have a series of Defender celebrations already planned for the year’…. ’unfortunately your event doesn't fit naturally with what we are going to do’ Good to hear that Lode Lane is not forgetting you. The year is already half over, so high time they start to release some details to you gents. Keep us informed. If they need some inspiration they still can study this movie here. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

Likewise very happy to meet up in Anglesey.
There are plenty of eateries in Bangor and a great Indian in Menai. I'll bring the Gold 50th anniversary 110 Wolf built for Sir Ranulph Fiennes transglobal expedition, it would be great if we could get one of each variant there. |

I've signed up for this, not sure if we'll travel Saturday and stay nearby or just travel early on Sunday morning.
I'll probably have a few cameras on the car taking video if that's any help..? Cheers Simon |

I have a trade stand at the North Wales truck gathering that weekend, I plan to take the morning out to run over to Red Wharf bay in the V8 90,
If we are looking for somewhere to meet up before, after or both I could have a word with the organisers? On the Saturday night there is on site camping, hog roast, fun fair & lots of old and new trucks, busses, classic cars motorbikes etc to look at, I'm sure they would welcome a "Landy Gathering" as there is loads of space http://shtoor.com/event.php?id=g4okgk2odt It's just off J31 of the A55 (about 1 hr from Red Wharf Bay) |

Iggle piggle may have a good idea above for after the beach gathering if there is nothing happening at Solihull, many of us will have to go that way anyway on our way back from Anglesey.
It would give us all a nice drive in convoy and a second excuse for a Defender get together on the same day. 2.2 90 XS 88" Series One Old Norton Minerva |

I'm planning to come along to this and make a Bendifroot Productions film or 2 of the day.
To my mind it's probably better without the Land Rover Company getting too involved. This project has started with an enthusiast and it's the enthusiast that has built the brand. Loving the whole concept and keen to be a part! I'll probably tag along with Couplands and camp somewhere nearby either the day before or after. Check out my YouTube channel for green laning and Land Rover "how to" videos. |

Just ticked the box here to say I'm in. The other half is away as is my son so I'm free all weekend. No skills particularly but will help out with anything if I can.
Have signed up on the website too (FatCompo username) - just waiting for the email confirmation. Sounds like a great event - an absolutely top effort. I will be staying over somewhere Saturday night (maybe even Friday night and find something to do on Saturday down there) - favour more a campsite, kip in the back of the 110, camp fire and beers so will look out for others doing the same. Am on holiday in the USA right now. Route 66 in a Mustang and driving my Defender on Red Wharf Bay beach. That's two of the boxes ticked on my to do list within the same month Craig 2015 110 USW XS in Santorini with premium contrast leather seats in tan/black, black headlining and with Dual Finish alloys (in the garage, now on Wolf rims with Goodyear MT/Rs) 2012 '62' 2.2 X-Tech 110 USW now gone ... 1984 90 soft top with full roll cage, 200 tdi engine etc now sold 2012 USW XS 2.2 "FUU" now gone.... |

Hello All
The Tribute plans at Red Wharf Bay are gaining momentum. We are developing both Press and Media interest to cover the event 'initiated by members of the Defender2.Net Forum as a way for Land Rover enthusiasts to acknowledge and pay tribute to the end of the Defender in its current form'. I have been in contact with the Heritage Motor Centre in Gaydon Warickshire (CV35 OBJ) as a possible alternative venue (to Solihull) for those wishing to take part and drive to after leaving Anglesey. http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk The Heritage Motor Centre have looked at our event and have said they think this could be doable, but added that Sunday 16th August is a Premium Day, hosting a special event for BMW. They think there may still be a way and have asked me to try and establish numbers wishing to attend. My thinking currently is to test this idea, so if you are attending Red Wharf Bay or would like to visit the Heritage Motor Centre meeting up with other D2N members + other LR enthusiasts, let me know your views (thread or PM). There is an opportunity here, the Heritage Motor Centre is an excellent venue, with an extensive Land Rover collection (listed below to give you an idea) it may be that we keep the Red Wharf Bay arrangements simple and build interest in a second D2N event, possibly securing higher numbers, and choosing a 'more normal' day for the Heritage Motor Centre, currently I think this is probably a better option, but again let me know.
