Noticed a creak that has progressively got worse, it is the drivers side and happens when going over undulating ground braking or accelerating and when turning, it can be felt through my feet and sounds (from the drivers seat) to be beneath drivers side floor, my Mrs says it appears to be behind the dash when hearing it from the passenger seat.
Has reached the point where it is an annoyance on anything other than a straight flat road. Did have a look underneath at the W/E and tightened a couple of small loose bolts was optimistic but the noise and feeling are still there. Any ideas? thanks in advance DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS, I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy |

guys thanks for the suggestions. I have been underneath today and found most of the 6mm bolts on the drivers side sill not tight and most noticeably the two horizontal ones at the front where the main chassis outrigger to bulk head bolt is were loose. Tightening these has all but removed the noise and feeling, although I still have a slight creaking noise in the drivers dash area so perhaps the Mrs and me were hearing different issues. Doh! I have the same problem and the dealership are also scratching their heads! I don't feel any vibration but there is a "plastic type rattle" that is getting worse! The dealership are addressing it as a warranty issue. but any ideas/solutions are most welcome.

Also, have you tried removing the seat base, removing then re-attaching the floor plate then putting back the seat base? I don't know why, but sometimes when this plate cover under the seat is not put back properly, it could result in creaking or squeaking.

thanks that's a good idea the noise has only happened since I had the clutch and transfer shaft done so is probably related to getting at all that stuff DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

Mine has developed a creek and I managed to track it down the the base of the drivers seatbelt.
The floor seems to flex and something is rubbing. Gradually getting worse and is now audible over the radio! She is booked in at the end of the month for this and a couple of other common issues. |

Mine has started to do the same,a creaking/slight knocking from around the drivers foot well area checked out the usual suspects anti-roll bar bushes, track rod ends etc all seem to be fine only started after I had the tracking done, mine also seems to be a "flexing issue" very annoying .
Im going to give it a dose of looking at again when im next off work !!!!! |

I had a drivers side creak when braking and on uneven roads. Moved the drivers seat forward slightly and cured it....turned out to be the seat moving against the bulkhead.

The dealership have concluded my creak is due to a cracked roof frame where the roof joins the widscreen! This on a brand new vehicle

mines still creaking fairly sure its low down in the front drivers footwell area, can be heard from both seats and felt through the drivers feet, does it as I get out as well so hopefully jumping in and out whilst stationary will allow me to find it, just not had another chance to investigate further. Sure I will post pics tomorrow. The crack which they showed me can only be seen by pulling the top door seal down. It runs from the corner back towards the roof pillar on the drivers side. The crack is clearly progressing. I don't have a roof rack so it is not a stress fracture from that source. I am still not entirely convinced that this is the only source of the creak...but clearly this needs to be sorted.
