Could be a slightly uneven tread wear from previous fitting.
If so, should go away on it's own. Try switching wheels round, a couple at a time. |

May just need rebalancing.
Maybe the Puma is more sensitive to balancing then the TD5 - different suspension etc. (I used have a an Audi A6 which was hyper sensitive to balancing, had to go to a tyre specialist with better balancing kit than the standard otherwise it shaked all day long ) Defender 90 TD5 Station Wagon Discovery 3 HSE BMW 330i Coupe |

How do you know they balanced correctly did you see them do you understand the numbers what method did they use how much weight ?
From experience with Zu's & BFG we found the best method was spin the tyre get a reading if over 60gs on inside outside mark the tyre closest to the value break bead rotate tyre 180deg repeat peat process until you get the lowest reading then the best method for adding is centre balancing ( a method where the weight is added to the centre of the wheel width ) no weight is added to to the outta extremities of the rim no an option on saloon cars but works just fine on a Defender shoud with Zu's weirdly the centre of a Zu rim is very close to the inner spoke Its easier to do than explain most tyre shops will just add weight and not take the time (most tyres have hilo marks on the tyre to start with as well but its not always the best placement). |

I have had a problem re wheels/tyres on my Puma also. I have had a wheel wobble problem on my Puma since fitting 265/75 m/t Toyo's on 8x16 rims. No matter who balanced them some degree of wobble would persist. Today, after a night on the , I decided to fit the standard rims and 235/85 AT's from the wifes TD5 90 and all is ok. Also no drama's on the 90. The only change to her 90 is less return to centre. Very odd. The Puma did not drive well with the tyre conversion at all.

AS alway I will say just because you are told they are balanced are they ? No tyre shop would really let you near the machines because of H&S so you have only to take their word.

These guys are tops in West Australia, the owner is a good friend of my sons and the sets up most of the race vehicles here, I think they know what they are doing. Even if they were wrong why does the TD5 have no wobble with the same wheels set on the same axle possitions. Please explain.

Get rid off the balancing weights. Use balancing powder. It works always also with dirty tyres.
I use it in my front tyres on my 90 and never have a shaking steering wheel. I had these tyres before on my Camel Disco and it was great on that one too. You should have left them on the td5.... !!!! Have had the same issue from time to time and usually sorted by swapping the wheels around. Sometimes when tyres left sitting around they can go out of balance/ shape slightly !! N. |

do you have wheel spacers on one and not the other....you could imagine a situaton where the spacer is not mounted completely concentrically - never used them myself. The other thing that comes to mind is whether you have more wear in the steering on one vehicle - perhaps this is accentuating the small imbalances of even a 'balanced' wheel.
You could always try and find a tyre place that balances wheels whilst fitted to the car.....again I'm not sure if anyone does this these days...apparently you could get it done years ago. The guy who fits the run-flats on my beemer says that there is a difference between static and dynamic balancing - whatever that means. |

No wheel spacers on either vehicle, not legal in Australia. The Puma 110 just doesn't drive as good as the 90 with the wider wheels
