There's quite a few pictures and comments already available. Some from another request generated by yourself with regards to Recaros....
Recaros are a vast improvement and by far the best IMO. But then again I have them and haven't had my fat ar5e in any others.... http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic38458.html?highlight=recaros william8 had some Exmoor Elite's for sale a while ago (pictures included....) if you can get a response they may still be up for grabs or he can tell you why he's selling and what he thought? http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic23971....moor+elite If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Thanks for the link, I realised I'd posted before but wanted views on other types.
I'd buy brand new, not ones that someone else had already squashed. I'm only 10 stone so I never ruin seats and they'll outlast me I'm sure. 2016 D4 HSE 1998 110 TUM HS FFR Hard Top XD WOLF 1982 Series 3 SWB Petrol |

Original new SVX ones with removable bases will set you back an eyewatering £3500.
http://www.lrisolutions.co.uk/index.php/la...-1642.html There are others advertised with 'Ambla Leather.' Ambla is a man made material and not actually leather. Also if you hunt around you can get Recaros for less than £2000 but they do not have removable bases. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! I recently fitted these nearly new Recaro CS seats to my Defender, They do have the higher sides on the seat bolster but as I have sliders fitted its not a problem getting in or out. Had to make some seat risers / adaptors up to fit them with the Lotus seat rails as they would not fit the usual seat adaptor brackets as the lower bolster is deeper and more padded than the usual Recaro seats fitted to Defenders. As they are raised they now go right back if you are over 6 foot
They are also in grey leather so matches the rest of the XS trim. I have fitted Exmoor Elite, they are very comfy indeed,if I was to fault them at all,the side bolsters could do with being a bit bigger.Passengers find they slide about a bit when I throwing it down windy roads.
As said, very comfy though.I drive form here in SW France 3 or 4 times a year, over 1500 mile round trip & never had back ache. Marc Click image to enlarge |

these would be sportsters, not sportster cs' or maybe they are now... the naming seems to have changed, those are sportster cs' and cross sportster cs' are more suited to defender use.. |

Went for the Diamond XS black leather with black stitching in the end.
They all come with the extra risers as well to allow more movement than the standard runners. |

I went through the same decision process and in the end plumped for an option you havnt listed. The leather trimmed genuine Cobra's with low sides as sold by Rich and LRI.
http://www.lrisolutions.co.uk/index.php/la...-1637.html They are very comfortable and incredibly, incredibly well made. Mine were specified (at no extra cost) with the OEM heaters so are plug and play into the loom. I also used my original runners which saved even more money off the price. I guess the only possible negative is that they don't have removable bases. But how many times do you really change a tyre and I've just chucked a 10mm ratchet in the cubby for the day it happens. I nearly went for the Exmoor but having looked at the range in person at a distributor was a little disappointed with the quality (as I've said many times before on this forum I have serious OCD ). I've also got to be honest and say when I phoned Exmoor for some advise I found them really quite unhelpful. Perhaps though I was just unlucky. Ultimately like many Ricaro's are what I really wanted but cost just put me off. Last edited by Barney12 on 22nd Jul 2015 8:27pm. Edited 1 time in total |

Just to throw another possibility into the decision making process, have you thought about scheelmann seats. We've got those in the White 90 and I love them. My advice would be find people with the seats you are interested in fitted and ask nicely to try them out. You wouldn't buy a sofa on the strength of a picture so treat car seats the same. I know it is a bit more of a challenge than popping down to the local DFS but why risk chucking money away. If you are not in a rush you are more than welcome to try out ours at Peterborough.

Here's a photo of the LRI Cobra's I have. Also showing the matching full leather cubby which is taller than standard and again is incredibly well made.

Hi Barney12, I looked at the LRI seats you mentioned as well but they came in nearly £700 more than the Exmoor e-seats. Assuming I get £500ish for my existing xs seats, it's costing me around £700 notes to upgrade rather than £1400.
