Shaggy you should invest in an engine watchdog! The piece of mind is great! I've seen my engine getting a bit hot without any indication from the dash gauge! I never look at dash now as I can accurately monitor temps real time! My 109 thread

Do you have a pic of your set up?

As I say I'm trying to keep it all as standard as I can but if I can stick this somewhere discrete linked to a bulb on the dash may help a bit? Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

This is not mine. Too lazy to go out and take a picture so I just downloaded one. But it's amazing, and already saved my engine when the water pipe that runs from the thermostat to the expansion tank under the air conditioning pump was chafed through. It's called a Madman ems.

Think you have seen it before. Sensor is attached to back of head using existing bolt Thumbs Up

You can check it out on their website. I'm currently monitoring the following: volts, coolant level, coolant temperature, gearbox oil temperature, egt & engine oil pressure.

Thanks G-mack - yes of course I have seen it I must have been having a derp moment.

Jfh, thank you for that, I quite like it but think it may be a bit too technical at this stage but will definitely keep in in mind Very Happy

Hi All, new to the site so thought I'd stick my nose in..

Out of interest, is your truck a genuine 200, or been converted from a disco? If so, there are differences between the temp sensors from the disco to defender, often overlooked during the conversion, if it still had the disco sensor fitted it could be giving odd readings on the gauge..

Just a thought..

Welcome to the site Thumbs Up

Mine is a genuine factory 200Tdi so should have the correct sender in it - that said it was owned by the environment agency for many many years so thats not to say they didn't swap sensor at some point.
