It looks very good. How does it compare to your previous TD5..? This is the switch I'm currently contemplating, so keen to hear what your thoughts.

Cheers

I don't have it yet Simon, should get it this week. Will let you know, but from the test drive I could already tell it felt very different to my TD5, but I'm not sure sure if that's engine related, comfort features, gearbox or tyres. This one had BFG AT pattern on whereas I had Cooper STT before. 2016 D4 HSE

Well I've got my first modification, but I've not yet got the car!

Absolutely beautiful Startech steering wheel. So lovely in the hand, so solid feeling and now smelling of Gliptone leather conditioner too.

Thanks Ken Thumbs Up

It sits awaiting me at the Dealership next to a £100K Range Rover SDV8 Autobiography Black Edition.

It comes home to sit next to my Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 Supercharged (in black)

Plenty of changes to be made now it's home. Not a bad pair to have on the driveway, in fact, quite a perfect pairing of total opposites.

Made my first change today.

Removed the OE LR Wing top checker plate and replaced with 3mm in black anodised finish. What a pig of a job to get access to the NS inner wing area!As ever, one seemingly simple job involves doing 5 more.

Remove light guard
Remove sidelight and indicator
Remove headlight
Remove headlight surround
Drill out rusted top vent screw
Throw away all screws as rusty as hell
Only one plate fixing was rusty and sheared off

Dislocate arms, wrist and fingers getting the locknuts underneath the new allen head counter sunk fixings. Big Cry 2016 D4 HSE

Weekend jobs: Change all the other chequer plate. This should be about an hours work...right?

Jesus H. What a ball ache of a job, all of the chequer plate fixings had rusted solid, so this is what happened,

3 of them just sheared off - that was good and made life easy
Most of them the heads got mangled - they were a PZ3 bit head and they just couldn't handle the torque, so they were ruined and I was forced to use the angle grinder. however access behind was impossible so I had to grind from the front, trashing the existing plates in the process. The rear corner plates are the worst one, almost no access behind even for a spanner.

Finally, after about 4 hours work I finally managed to offer up the new 3mm black anodised plates but guess what? The sill covers didn't fit!

So I had to slice off a little off each end and now they fit perfectly. Instead of painting the ends black I used a permanent black marker pen, instantly dry and totally invisible repair.

I used the black allen head and locknut fixings supplied, and used copper grease to cover the nuts and remaining thread, just in case I ever have to remove them. Once the panels are drilled though, you can never go back to the standard look.

So, it looks WAY better now, but I hated that job!

Just need those Sawtooths now to make the grey/black combo really 'pop' as Edd China would say

Plenty of parking on the paddock! Laughing

Where did you buy the black anodised finish checker plate? I have been trying to obtain black anodised checker plate but can only find silver anodised. In black all I can find is powder coated. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Next few jobs to do:

Fit seat riser rail to drivers side
Fit Startech steering wheel

Go to Billing and see if I can pick up some deals on bits I want for it.

Then there's some bigger changes in August to come. Very Happy 2016 D4 HSE
