Hello all, i have been wanting my defender to sound a lot more meaty for a while now and i have been looking about for a DE-CAT exhaust system to buy.
Been looking about and there is quite a price variation between some of the exhaust on sale new on ebay i am just wondering is there will be much difference in quality? or is it just the same product with an expensive name on it? examples shown below thanks The two exhaust shown below look very similar but there is £30-40 differ in price? does not sound a lot of money to be worrying about but a bit short on money atm and don't want to be ripped off. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DEFENDER-90-110-...58a2662e74 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/landrover-defend...3f3f4f9a28 Also do you think this would be worth it? but it is a lot more money http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/landrover-defend...3f3f4fb0fe Thanks |

Nice first post. Welcome to the forum....
Buying one to sound meatier? First time I've heard that one.... Save your money in that case as you're in for disappointment. It won't sound much different but the other benefits are worthwhile in my opinion with regards to turbo spooling up quicker. You could either remove the centrebox (or rearbox as I have done) in conjunction. There are others that will give a lifetime warranty such as Griffin. I have a Griffin fitted which I adapted and made my own 'cat' metaphorically speaking. The first link doesn't give a warranty period, the second 10 years. Will not delve too deeply into legality but illegal on your truck and MOT fail if noticed it's not fitted.. The last link doesn't look any different from the second? Same material same thickness. Click image to enlarge If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Thank you for your replies, i know the Pumas will never sound like the TD5 but it is always nice to get bait more noise from your defender. And i am also swear of outer advantages such as what Buwster said the engine runs more freely because of the lack of back pressure and this can slightly help the mpg.
And thanks K9K, i have quite a few mates whoi have done what i want to do on there TD5s and 300tdis and they sound amazing, just was not sure what affect it had on a puma as i have not heard much about them. Thanks |

that reminds me... i need to make a new video of the exhaust, it no longer squeals with the billet turbo
think its a little louder too, maybe little meatier to be fair. |

I must be getting old. I don't want my Landy to be louder, I want it quieter.

Sounds lovely.
I'm not sure if it's a video editing trick but I swear you actually overtook another car? This is something I've never experienced in a Defender |
