My new (to me) Defender 90 Puma
Right,

As luck would have it, I came across a suitable vehicle at my local main dealer and for once didn't have to travel hundreds of miles, so I popped along unannounced so I could catch them unawares and see the car from cold etc. It's actually a Dealer I've avoided in the past due to some shoddy people there but this experience was very good and those people seem to have gone, luckily.

Salesman greeted me on the forecourt while I was giving it the pre-lookover, and he didn't try and do the hard sell on me, just told me about its history and the previous owner. After a nice smooth test drive (nothing like the shocker of a 110 I drove on Tuesday) I decided it was good enough to buy and use as a base for the things I have planned.

So here she is, a 2008MY 2.4 TDCi 90 CSW in Stornoway XS trim. It has standard XS spec inside and out plus a Parrot system installed and a non LR stereo. All seemed to work ok and the air con was icy cold. It also has tinted windows and BFG AT's in 265 85 16 size - all with loads of tread. It also has the LR RAI on it too and front light guards and side steps, rear step, tow bar and electrics, plus a heavy duty front steering guard.

It's all very clean and looked after and didn't look like it's ever been off road.

We did a deal, as suspected they wouldn't budge on price but for the asking price I also got a set of genuine front rubber mats, a full tank of diesel, a seat squab repaired and free GAP insurance, plus it will be serviced by them and get new rear brake pads. I thought it wasn't a bad price to begin with so I am happy they tried to accommodate my demands! They also gave me a Defender ginger bread biscuit. The guys I dealt with all seemed to have a real passion for the Defenders.

It has a couple of paint blemishes and surface rust on the chassis in parts but it's solid and just ready for me to get to work.

I'll be removing the silver chequer plate and replacing with black anodised, and removing the Boosts in favour of Sawtooths. If anyone wants first dibs on them let me know.

Here's some pics of how she will start out.

Lovely, but you shouldn't have got that biscuit unless you signed up to their finance, their insurance and their warranty!

Enjoy! That's not a dent, it's a rivet. That's not a dent, it's a rivet. That's not ... oh! That is a dent!

Looking forward to seeing it once you've had the chequer plate anodised as that's what I'm thinking of doing too.

Yes but it's brand new and with a new tyre, same size as the BFGs so I'll keep as is till I can justify shelling out for a matching sawtooth and tyre just for the look!

Ken, I love the Startech wheel and was looking at them online last night...were you spying on me!?? Shocked 2016 D4 HSE
