It's done from what I've been told. Order books closed etc. Celebration Editions were it. 2016 Defender Adventure 110

Big engines blah blah blah was always a bit silly, homologation, consumption and emissions testing would have had to have been started yonks ago.
Badges and stickers and bits from the parts bin a whole different thing, we’ve already seen another “Special Edition” introduced after the “Celebrity Editions” that had all the hype and everybody rushed out to buy. My five hundred quid deposit - lodged in early 2013 - is waiting until September 2015 as advised at that time by my dealer; if there’s nothing better on offer than what we’ve seen so far I’ll have it back and keep my 2011 2.4 until it rusts away (on average ten years the way I treat ‘em). "Big engined Defender"?...Short answer,...NOPE, ain't gonna happen.
That question/rumour, has been repeatedly been raised on this forum & other places for probably the last 18 months or so, and my answer has always been, "ain't gonna happen". However, if you were to ask me, "Would you LIKE it to happen"?..my answer would be "ABSOLUTELY", and I reckon they (JLR) could & should do it,...but they won't. V8 50th owners should be VERY happy, knowing they own a VERY special Defender. Pickles. |

To be honest I think you would be better off getting a 2016 defender (because thats a thing now ) and rip out the 2.2 and stick in your own engine.
My choice would be a 130 with a Cummins 6bt Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter |

I would rather see a standard one put together proper and with bit of care , not thrown togather like the new ones now

Aren't Bowler racing their new jag lumped defender at Walters this weekend? About the closest we will get to a LR gen big lumped vehicle I reckon. Cheers

thanks guys.
Consensus view is clear, and aligns with what I was thinking... I might leave the deposit down until the summer has gone just in case. |
