France 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 DCPU Corris Grey
Is mine unique?
Does anyone else have the following 'quirk' or is mine unique? If I forget to use the remote fob to unlock the beast I can still open the rear passenger doors (I have the SW variant) albeit setting off the alarm. Anyone able to do the same thing? Shocked

Am I missing something when locking the vehicle (double click to lock front and rear etc) or are the rear doors merely not engaging. Not too fussed, as I have tinted windows and keep nothing in the back apart from my Union Flag for when I take over France, bwah-ha-ha-ha.... Whistle Monsieur Le Grenadier

Sounds like you have a problem with the rear door actuators or the cables that run to them.

Have you tried peeling back the rubber conduit and looking at the condition of the cables, it's a common fault

Both of mine are like this at the moment, need to sort it. Frustrating having to slam lock the backs Cheers, David

rear door wiring in the rubber umbilical cord repaired twice and replaced once Thumbs Up

It's a Defender with nothing sophisticated - 1 click locks, 1 click (on the other button, of course) unlocks. Double clicking shouldn't make any difference.

I thought that if the lock button was pressed a second time within a certain period of time it disabled the internal motion detectors (where fitted) in order that you could leave a dog or whatever in the vehicle without it triggering the alarm?

Defender isn't that clever.

Ah Grenadier I see yours is a 2011 like mine. I had the same problem last year ( two kids, back doors opened and shut very frequently).
The wires to the back doors are looped in a 'U' shape. They are ridiculously thin and they simply snap over time. When the dealer fixed them he told me to replace them with household mains flex type wires when they break outside the warranty - which they surely will. I wonder if later models have had their C/L wires upgraded.
