Has anybody tried this?
There are several compact (underseat) subwoofers at about 8cm tall which could go under/in a suitably manufactured cubby box raiser. |

I don't want to put it under the rear seats, as Andrew says it will get damaged when seats are folded, also not keen on having it on show by bolting to the rear of the cubby box.
Andrew, are you suggesting bolting it to the underside of the slide out cover under the seat? Will the sound get through ok? My thought was to make up a steal or ali box, with the ends missing and mount it inside underneath the cubby box so you get the added bonus of raising the cubby box a bit. |

Bolt it into the bottom of the box under the seat, sound gets through OK, hey try it there first before you go altering the cubby box. Unless you want to fit it under the cubby box

Doesn't that house the ECU? On another note, this is my current speaker location (JBL 6x9"): ![]() Click image to enlarge However, when loaded with overlanding kit, you can't hear them. Where else can I place them? I was thinking in the rear roof corners, but does that work? |

Awesome. Now we can look forward to the ECU melting due to engine heat ![]() |

That is an interesting setup. As you was thinking to put them on top rear, but a selfmade box it is needed for such location. I guess wood and fiber glass could do the job.
Just and idea: How about making those speaker boxes a bit taller? Abviously the small rear windows will be blocked. I also tend to load with stuff and cr&p the whole rear. Puma 110" SW ............................................................. Earth first. Other planets later |

Wood is probably better. Car audio shops in RSA have them lying around and will sel lthem cheap. Also, I remove the entire rear trim to gain more space for packing - it also removes a lot of rattles ![]() |
