Wales 2007 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 SW Tonga Green
Blimey !!
What a nightmare , glad you've got it sorted at last . I was thinking of taking my Landy down to the south of France next year , but now having second thoughts .
Sorry about the hound , I had two working ESS, but the oldest one 10 yr old died suddenly two days after Christmas , but the 9 yr old is still hanging on !! Never a good time to lose your best mate !!
Safe journey home . Thumbs Up Defender 90 Tonga green . My 2007 County .2.4Tdci puma .
Too many other Discos to mention, including a V8 petrol Disco3 and diesel Disco 3 !! ( All gone)

I would never want to discourage anybody from taking their Defender anywhere they wanted.
The moment you lose confidence in a vehicle, and hesitate to use it, you might as well get rid of it.
I would take mine abroad again without hesitation.
These things happen, from time to time - it's just much easier to resolve the problem at home.
To be honest, losing my dog was the main issue.
That special bond with a good, honest working dog is hard to explain, if you've never experienced it, but it doesn't half make the parting that much harder.
Or perhaps I'm just being a sentimental fool? '57 Defender 110 XS Station Wagon 2.4tdci

Yes I agree about using the car , the worry about breaking down can happen in any car you drive ! But as you said it's always more of a worry when abroad !
I'm a retired police dog handler and having Dogs beside me 24/7 for 15 yrs ,when I retired I kept all three, but as I said only one left now ! The pain of losing them never gets any easier !
Cheers Thumbs Up Defender 90 Tonga green . My 2007 County .2.4Tdci puma .

My dogs (now dog) live in, and I work from home, so I'm also with them 24/7.
However, I've only ever relied upon them for good sport & companionship, and never had to potentially place my life in their hands.
Which is just as well, as I should think that it would take a considerable amount of time for a spaniel to lick an attacker to death! Laughing
To end this thread on a high, I've now had several lengthy trips into the hills, driving twisting single-track roads, and the Defender hasn't missed a beat since being fixed. Thumbs Up
I even managed to find some rivers, that didn't require abseiling to reach, were not 'Reserve da Peche', or teeming with rafters, and caught some trout!
We are heading for La Rochelle tomorrow & hopefully the journey will be equally uneventful. '57 Defender 110 XS Station Wagon 2.4tdci

Glad the Landy is now back in full health ! The trips sound fun , wish I had the time to get out more in mine .
I've just had an EGR valve replaced under warranty so no more sudden engine cut outs, and returning home in limp mode !!!!
I've only got the one spaniel left now , as you say he'd take a while licking an intruder to death , that's if he heard them in the first place as he's now partially deaf !!!! .
Cheers happy motoring Thumbs Up Defender 90 Tonga green . My 2007 County .2.4Tdci puma .

I’ve just started having this exact problem but nothing coming up on the garage diagnostic! Pumaxs, did it show up at the garage in France?
