...If an unmarked lights up you could get a passenger to call 101 and tell them that you know you are being followed and will pull up somewhere safe, or could call 999 and report what you think to be a fake police car attempting to pull you over (up north there was a bloke doing this and then taking advantage of th single female drivers on lonly dark nights - shudder....) so you are trying to get away from them.....
Yeah. Try that. See how far you get.... |

Mine measures at 64 when my dial is at 70. I think it unlikely a defender to be caught speeding. If anything they'd likely congratulate you for achieving such a high speed.

Most tyres of defender sizes are rated to around 90 - 99mph roughly iirc especially AT's and MT's.
Not quite sure on how it is worked out but I believe they have an alphabetical rating for speed. Exceed it and it's seriously dangerous. With a stage 1 map you could easy poke over 70, myself I'd rather not thrash my 90 nor end up part of it strewn across the road. |

You can tell a genuine unmarked roads policing car from a fake. If a single blue light comes on, or the headlamps flash normally - then question it.
If the world lights up blue/black and the headlamps flash alternately or fog/headlamp/fog in the case of newer vehicles, then it's more than likely a real one. You can stop, not get out, and ask to see identification. I wouldn't advocate driving 18 miles to the next services. There is an offence of 'Fail to Stop'. As projectblue says above, if you tried that with the traffic boys round my way, you would have your head in your hands to play with.... Seriously. Don't try that up here. You will be banged up awaiting court... |
