A point to note perhaps with the Wipac kit it is the trigger point for the trailer light you are adjusting not the flash rate. The trailer light (without a trailer fitted) should flash just once when the indicators are initiated.

I also really don't like the Wipac style visible SMD LEDs, mine are Perei - and they do have a "clear" fog light which matches the Perei LED reverse light (which I bought but don't like the light output from).  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Numerous posts on these style of bulbs/filaments and the reasoning behind their illegality........ Thumbs Up

.......LED bulbs in an incandescent holder is illegal as they are designed and certified 'E' marked for use with a regular incandescent bulb.

If you want LED they need to be 'E' marked units such as the RDX or Wipac's as they are 'E' marked and tested as complete LED units.

The only lights you'd get away with this on is the reverse light as the aren't obligatory / compulsory lighting.

You can have any colour lense as long as it shows the right colour light and marked within regulations ( e-mark )eg stop/tail red etc , led bulbs are illegal to fit in standard lenses coloured or clear

you cat get coloured filament bulbs , amber look ok , red look pink ( look cr@p I think )

Best really is to change whole lamp to led , looks better , right colour, legal

sorry just re read first post and thought you were on about fitting led bulbs Embarassed

legally you shouldn't fit led bulbs to standard lamps

Glad someone else said it and not me!! Thumbs Up

After the last Peterborough show I got a rather irate phone call from a non customer of ours.

Apparently we had sold him a load of LEDs, some were not working and the flash rate was wrong.

I calmly explained that he had the wrong company as we do not sell them!

As for the non working LED we explained that it might be just swop wires on his bulb holders as LEDs require the correct polarity unlike filament bulbs. To correct the flash rate he would require the purchase of either a different relay or ballast resistors. I did not bother mentioning the ILM which the OEM provides LR with.

By this time we had managed to work out which company had sold them to him. However he was not a very happy bunny when I asked if the company supplying them to him had explained that they were illegal for road use!

Looking at the LED lights makes me realise that they are expensive. is it possible to fit the rear ones on their own?
