HEAT UNDER DRIVERS SEAT
Hi had a longish trip over the weekend to Portsmouth and back from Leicester ,lovely hot day window down job.
I noticed a lot of heat coming up from under the drivers seat.! The seat belt mount point was that hot you could barley touch it.Is this normal, anyone else noticed this? Or is it just where the gear box mount to the chassis and heat transfers through? any thoughts. Cool

Gaz I think its normal. However in true Landy weirdness I have found some days hot as hell, others cool and comfortable. It's almost like which way the wind blows. Even more baffling when on a long trip. My Defender and travels

heat from cat/dpf on drivers side ?

maybe dpf done a regen on that trip , which would give you extra heat on drivers side ?

A de-catted 2.4 is very noticably cooler around the driver's side bulkhead, footwell, and seat area than one with a cat, the the DPF theory would be my suggestion.

Unless the handbrake is dragging - that could generate a lot of heat.

I can remember there being a comment somewhere about of you drive along with the window open it sucks a lot of heat up from the gearbox tunnel area which makes it much hotter. In older landys with proper screen vents it would negate this by opening the vents it would create a positive pressure which then forced air out of the cabin and directed the heat away from the tunnel.

That could all be "saged rambleings" though. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

I have heard that said but have to admit I haven't really found it to be the case, and also don't really understand why it would (or could) be the case unless there are many openings through the seatbox.

With the window open you do get more air drawn through the heater which can under some circumstances pull heat through, but in general it will be cooler (or at least less hot) with the window open.

Obviously I am not talking air con here.
