All R380 gearboxes crunch from 1st to 2nd and, to a lesser degree, from 2nd to 3rd.
There are some better oils out there but sourcing them is difficult. If it comes to the worst, Ashcroft do an exchange with an improved shift for £595 + VAT |

I have Difflock products in all boxes and diffs. TD5 52 plate.

I'm pretty interested in this oil as it seems to get a lot of positive reviews.
I have some concerns that no information is given about the oil - such as viscosity, and I have a certain cynicism as to how a Land Rover forum can develop an oil that seems better than the big boys. I have got two vehicles with the R380 gearbox, both with the standard 1st - 2nd shift problem when cold so I'm very tempted. Does anyone know the back ground to this oil, or of personal experience with long term use. Brian |

just like to say thanks to all the replies ref: the gears on my td5 90 csw. Anyway ive done a good deal and pick up a puma double cab hopeful nxt week. Went and had a run in one and couldnt believe the difference(better,in my opinion) so cant wait, its an xs.
