Yeah, I love the colour too, I'd always assumed it's where the current (and gorgeous) Keswick Green came from.

I think it looks a closer match to the Grasmere Green on the Heritage... Question

Thanks Gents, and realistically, thanks to the previous owners for not screwing it up. So many of these old girls have been over abused, and now having found a decent one, it's my responsibility to treat it correctly.

Lovely Cool

Maybe it is? I'll have to find one and park em up side by side.

@ fat haggis, yeah, I'm not planning on messing with it. I'll just keep it clean underneath, stick to (very) regular servicing and enjoying it. My kids already love it, they're already begging for it over the tdci, as apparently the safari roof vents "are the best"

I wonder why they stopped making the roof like that?

@PCA42, yeah, I sure do. Even the mopeds overtake me, Ohh the envy I have towards their abundant power.

Breathtaking and extremely well looked after by the looks of it. Congratulations on swapping out the vastly inferior for the superior Thumbs Up

It's lovely that there are so many Series people on here too, so in response to the more photos comment, here's one showing the throbbing power plant...

That is lovely.

I don't know why they stopped doing the safari roof, I really liked them and would love one for my 110.
I'm half tempted to DIY one but seeing as they were never on Defenders I don't think it would look right.

A much more elegant solution than air conditioning.

I've just collected a Safari roof to add to my 1987 110. I think they had been phased out by then, but no aircon and a V8, I need to remove the heat somehow.

Nice looking 109". On the colour issue, I'm not sure what that colour is as the vehicle has been repainted at some point, the interior is probably the original paint.

Keswick green is nothing to do with the series Light Green, keswick is much darker.

The "safari" roof was discontinued when the 110 came out with the taller windscreen than the series III. 2011 110 USW

@229 It's just the standard 'Light Green' from the Series 3 sales catalogue, as shown. Maybe the photos are making it look different?

Yes, it was repainted several years ago; in the flesh it's easy to see that it's quite an old paint job, but it's still in its original bog standard combination of Light Green with a Limestone roof and rims (my favourite colour combo). It seemed that back home the majority of Series vehicles were supplied in Deep Bronze Green, (had four in the past myself) but over here that colour is far less common. Whereas pale colours and Safari rooves aren't too hard to find.

@cupboard, the safari roof really is great, as if it's left parked in the sun with those vents left open, it drastically reduces the heat build up and then obviously when it's moving it's channeling that air straight at the second row and rear load area passengers. It was a clever design, the kids tell me that when they're in the middle or the back, the roof vents work just as effectively as the windscreen vents do up front. Really is beyond me why they stopped making the safari roof, I'm sure they could have adopted the shape to suit the taller one piece screen on the 110?

@inigo, if you do that conversion, please put photos up here, as that'd be really interesting to see.

Addition; the Limestone of the roof itself has never been repainted, it's through to the alloy in a few spots, I plan on leaving it that way, Patina is a positive thing for me.

You are right that deep bronze green is much more common in the UK then elsewhere, and seems almost unusual in Europe. It was never even offered in the US so I understand. 2011 110 USW
