Hi Supacat
Thank you for your post. As the information you have requested relates to another owner's vehicle order, I must advise that we would be unable to disclose this information. Regards Ryan |

Well it was worth asking...
Out of interest is this a decision you made or did you ask someone up the chain? The answer seems at odds to all your publicity photos showing the owner's registration number? |

I can understand the reasoning behind JLR's policy - unless you happen to be a top British fashion designer with the surname of Smith! I also have a love of Morgans and the same applies to the Morgan Motor Company who likes to keep the names of their clients secret, unless of course you are a Top gear presenter with Worldwide viewing figures of 350m. But hey, I'm just an old cynic.

I can understand why they might not want to disclose the information... but it's not a show stopper. We would only need to know one number to be able to work the rest out. It doesn't specifically have to be #2,000,000. eg #1,999,900 would be just as good.
Obviously Ryan and JLR don't want to be bogged down for weeks with every Defender owner asking "what number's mine?". But if as a one off they could just let one person have an idea, then people could build the rest. So if any one else with a delivery somewhere in the region of # 2,000,000 (ie anything in last few weeks to next few weeks) could get that info and then share it... |

Hey - just be patient - the VIN might make itself known over the next week or two - after all it's not exactly a secret.

I'm not impatient - in that I'm not actually bothered either way. Just saying that any known number is as good as any other (After my original post I did read your other one about it appearing at a show - so as you say it won't remain a secret for long anyway )

Perhaps the next forum member to photograph it can snap the vin in the windscreen. As noted above, it's hardly secret.

So that's about 43,000 made since December 2012 when mine rolled off the production line.
Got my number but it doesn't really role off the tongue like some will. |
