Do a search using perhaps the following as keywords:
RDX, WIPACS, JW SPEAKER, TRUCKLITES, NOLDENS, LEDS as a starting point there is loads of information. Noldens, Lightforce 240XGTs and Wipac clear LED indicators and sidelights. You will never get agreement about what is smarter/brighter etc.
Some of that is very subjective. However some things to consider. 1) All obligatory lights have to be type approved which basically mean E marked. If NOT E marked they are ILLEGAL, it does not matter if it passes the MOT or not they are ILLEGAL. Yes you might save £50 or so, however worthwhile being pulled by police/VOSA having your insurance declared void etc. 2) IP rating second number is the important number IP67 is the minimum IP68 better, best is IP6K9K 3) Light output typically given in Lumens. If only one figure given it will be the RAW Lumens which is headline figure and is a calculated figure assuming NO losses whatsoever, i.e. perfect conditions. Probably best to take this figure with a large dose of salt. Second figure is effective lumens, this is a calculation of what the light output is. Take this figure with a small pinch of salt. Best figures to take on board is measured light output which should be the most realistic figure. So look at specification carefully. 4) Appearance, very personal decision. 5) Budget very personal. However best not to buy on price alone, look carefully at specification and appearance. Brendan |

The Noldens look the mutts. What is the best way to match the colour of the light output of the Noldens with standard side lights?
I hate it when you see standard lights mixed with LED white light. I don't really like the LED wipac sets |

You won't match the output colour with sidelights unless they too are exchanged for LED ones, one is incandescent the other LED. The Wipacs are exactly the same style as OEM if you don't like them source other ones you do perhaps, there are several makes available? Hi Martin,
I'm looking at changing all my rear lamps to clear lenses/LED's. Is there any particular reason why you haven't changed your rear fog to clear? |

With regards to the rear fog when I swapped out all mine for Wipacs they for some reason don't/didn't make a clear fog at the time. Others such as Bearmach do but the lens pattern is completely different and if you suffer from any kind of OCD you need to decide stick with the same kit and have an odd red light or have a clear 'singleton' that looks completely different. Thanks Martin. Also thanks to K9F. According to the Flatdog website they stock a Wipac clear LED NAS fog lamp so as they are only a few miles away I'm going to pop over and compare lens design with their reverse lamp. I can see where you are coming from with OCD. Big decision (maybe) do I have odd coloured lamps or odd design of lenses. Now I'm retired I'm not used to making big decisions anymore!

I changed mine from std units to LED's a while ago, they're a big improvement, I think I got them as a kit from Boltonbits.
They're easy to fit, just take each light out one by one and plus the new ones in. The kit will come with a new flasher unit, that just needs to be swapped for the original one behind the clocks, some are adjustable too, so just click the hazzards on and adjust the knob until it's at the correct rate of flashes per minute. I also changed the bulbs in the sidelights to LED's but kept the original lenses. That way everything looks pretty standard but are much crisper and brighter. Then get come Crystal headlights with nightbreaker bulbs, much nicer and cleaner looking, plus they give better light. If you want to full affect with better headlights then upgrade the headlight loom, this will add a bit of umph to the voltage of the headlights by taking the power from the alternator or battery. |

I have the Wipac kit fitted to mine, I held out for ages waiting for them to produce a fog light with the same pattern as the reversing light.
