Sounds like there must be 12v becoming present in the ignition wiring for the HU thus turning it on permanent live.
The ignition pin should be completely 0v with ignition off at rest. Remove the HU and use a multimeter to check for voltage at the ignition pin on the connector block. ISO on a 2011 I'd imagine. If there is voltage there with keys completely removed there is something causing it somewhere which will need checking out. If it reads dead 0v then there is something up with the HU it's self. The only power it should be using is Milliamps approx 2-3mA (variable) via the permanent live feed which is of course permanently live at rest. Whilst running and switched on it will draw much more current circa 8A or so again variable. The only way to sort this one will be fault finding, but first step you can at least determine if it's the HU or the vehicle. Probably the latter and probably relay related. But just a guess |

Hi Keys are out of the vehicle & all locked up -- i am in bed , or was. Its happened several times, not sure about cig socket. I can only think that the head unit is faulty. ( may be an excuse to buy a nice new shiny one !!)

You should remove it ASAP in case you end up with a flat battery, it'll be fine without it in no problem.
As you'd have to have it out anyway this is why I thought you may as well check the wiring. |

I also have this problem, the unit switches on /lights up and tries to run a cd, thankfully none in the the slot, never done this over night though, usually when one is switching off the ignition. Very weird !!!!

I'm curious as to your solution as my radio likes to turn itself on ay night too.... with a free 15 mins this evening pulled all fuses and relays cleaned, ACF50'd and replaced. Let's see...
