2011MY CSW registered as DEFENDER 110 XS TD D/C - problem?
I'm in the process of buying a July 2011 registered 110 XS station wagon. V5 has it down as a 7 seater (which is how many seats it has) but also has it down as a DEFENDER 110 XS TD D/C which I believe means double cab. HPI check (thru AA) matches VIN number and registration plates so I think it's all fine but just wanted to check whether anyone here would see this small discrepancy as an issue?

According to the trade dealer (not an LR main dealer) I am buying it from, they put it down as a d/c so it qualified as a light goods vehicle...does that sound right/plausible? I'm 99.9% its not been converted as the interior all fits perfectly and matches exactly to a station wagon.

I'm pretty certain it isn't as a d/c would have had a bulk head after the second row of seats and either still be there or be cut out....and I can't see any evidence of that at all. Roof lining, carpets, seats etc all are fine.

Does LR sometimes just make mistakes when registering stuff....there seems to be quite a lot of chat on here about various anomalies generally with LR and the Defender so doesn't seem that surprising!

My 2009 Double Cab, purchased new, was registered as a 110 SW so, yes, mistakes do happen.

The dealer sorted it out for me but it did take quite some time.

Is it necessary to have it sorted out?

Not 100% sure on that. I had mine sorted as it was a brand new replacement for a vehicle I rejected.

A couple of years later it was still showing as a SW on insurance sites but at least the V5 was correct.

Maybe call the DVLA and see what they have to say about it.

Yep It's quite common

My County Hard Top is shown as a County Station Wagon on the V5, Even showing number of seats as '4' Smile

DVLA wasn't bothered, Insurance company wasn't bothered ... So been left as is Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.

Check on the VIN? Post it up here if unsure how to read it - just leave the final numerical code out.

The 7th letter will designate the body style - an M says it's a 5 door station wagon.

SALLDHMS - assuming I can count this means M is 7th and so it is a 5 door station wagon. Excellent.

My 1984 project vehicle I bought comes up as this

Manufacturer: Land Rover Ltd
Manufacturer address: Gaydon Test Centre
Banbury Road
Lighthorne
Product type: Land Rover
Make: Land Rover
Check digit: 7
Model year: 2010
Plant code: United Kingdom

So I tried another database and got this

r:

Land Rover TATA UK
Brand:

Land Rover
Model:

Defender

Any ideas how a 1984 model now comes up as a 2010 model Confused For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..
