National Lottery announcement hard to believe but true
Just read about the changes to the national lottery that will take effect this October.
I have always thought it was a racket now I am sure it is

The announcement marks the biggest shake-up since the National Lottery started 21 years ago.

Under the new rules, the pool of numbers for players to choose from will increase from 49 to 59. At the moment, players choose six numbers up to 49, with odds of winning the jackpot sitting at just under one in 14 million.
These odds will lessen to around one in 45 million come October, according to mathematicians.

It is said that the chances of winning was as likely as finding a ten carat diamond on Red wharf beach now it is said that from October the chances of winning will be the same as finding a 60 carat diamond inside a banana! For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

There are higher odds on the smaller amounts like Munch mentions above.
Or lower amounts again.
Me: I've only ever won a max of about £10 on scratch cards. Rolling Eyes

Doing some massive oversimplification and generalising, the people that seem to spend the greatest proportion of their income on the Lottery tend to be poorer. The Lottery funds things that tend to be used more by richer people. That seems a bit backwards to me.

You have to admit though that it was a stroke of genius to come up with what amounts to an entirely voluntary tax that people queue up to pay!

Statistically you were more likely to be murdered by a stranger than win the jackpot. Now you're probably more likely to be struck and killed by lightning whilst murdering a stranger than you are to win!
