Phone and ask your tester before you fit!

just leave it on he wont notice its removable ........ mine didnt notice as they usually have the apprentice in the car doing the lights and stuff for the tester

I am not aware of any requirement in C&U for the steering wheel to be permanently attached, however it must e secure and fit for purpose.
Provide that it isn't loose and doesn't wobble or come off in your hands, and is suitable in terms of size and strength etc, then I don't believe that there are any grounds for failure. You may find that if it obscures certain of the instruments, or blocks the view through the windscreen, or has sharp edges, etc, then there may be grounds for failure. |

Have one fitted in another vehicle and it's been to many different MOT stations over the years and never failed once. Indeed never even been commented on.
Things to check for are the quality of the final fitting - some cheaper makes have a degree of slop which only gets worse with use over the years. This could generate a fail. There was some debate as to whether there needed to be a locking mechanism such that you could not just pull the tabs and remove the wheel whilst driving, but again, this would be subject to the tester's interpretation of whether it's deemed secure or not. |

Thanks guys for all your comments, I thought someone would know. It's a really well made and a good positive snap on and lock. I'll fit it anyway and if it does get pulled up I can simply fit the great big old bus type one that came off!
