Puma engine, how far can you go.
How far do you think you can go with the Puma engine ?

Looking at going racing again and wondered if the Puma is worth a punt or go for tried and tested TD5.

Would be nice to start with a new vehicle and do it properly with all the right bits.

Your thoughts gents.

Andy.

The question isn't how far you can go with the engine, more on how much the gearbox and the rest of the drive-train will take. If you just want to go for out and out power I would say V8, or the Td5.

True, a TD5 can be tuned to the hilt, but the Puma is a tougher nut to crack and thus far cannot go as far as the TD5 and that's not for lack of trying/asking/begging on my part! Big Cry

When I spoke to Pete at BAS, he was pretty clear that the Puma is a dog of an engine - way too highly stressed to do much with. The Td5 was a much better lump. I'd start there One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS
+ New Defender 110 First Edition

Seems to be the trend of thoughts on the Puma.

Need to find a nice TD5 110 with a blown engine and find a new one to use or maybe my 2.8TVG lump under the bench.
