Clutch "Death rattle"
Well, it had to happen... Major knocking and rattling from the clutch today.. Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry
New clutch kit ordered, along with a new release bearing and transmission jack.. Thumbs Up

Does anyone have any good tips for a competant DIY'er for changing the clutch?
Anything I need to be aware of before I start unbolting bits?

Wish me luck!!!! ... ,-------,

good luck.......

does kit include spigot bearing and are you looking to replace extension shaft at the same time - at least have a look while you're at if I were you.

hope all goes well Saturday.

Top three are back to front, drop rear gearbox mounts off, cross member off & lower gearbox on a jack then use a very long, extension bar and socket from the plate under the cubby, with the gearsticks out of the way you can almost see them!!

Good luck - again

As for the cat nuts, a small sharp drill and carefully split them off, probably easier that replacing broken studs.

The one I couldn't shift is the 6mm one on the manifold holding the brace bar,

I left the exhaust in place when I last changed the clutch on my 110. It's a bit more fiddly and you can't drop the main gearbox, but if you roll the gearbox back on a transmission jack there is enough room.

Bellhousing fasteners are somewhat inaccessible, some can be reached from above, some from below.

Well, all is going to plan.. Or just about! Managed about 5 hours today..
The stuck and rounded cat nuts are off.. Irwin nut removers.. Marvellous devices.. Not cheap, but you can really get a grip on yer round nuts!
Most of the minor dismantling done in prep for taking transfer box off and then the gearbox.. Managed to locate 8 of the 10 bolts.. Hopefully, I'll find the other two tomorrow!
Oil drained from TB and GB.. Props off, zorst n cat off, crossmember off, interior tunnel and panel stripped.. Gear and hi-lo selector removed.. Jeez, the list is almost endless!
But I want to have a good mooch at the TB and GB for any wear, so taking the car to bits is a worthwhile exercise.. ... ,-------,
