Ripped off in the USA!
This was posted on the Series 1 club forum, I know it's not defender related but well worth a watch!
With Defender and Series vehicles fetching big money in the states, it just goes to show how someone will rip you off!
I think the Land Rover originally sold for way over £20,000 dollars

So a guy bid $20k without seeing the vehicle and apparently without any comeback after the event?

I thought EBay would have supported getting his money back if he had wanted to, seems strange he's kept it and then having someone else do the work on it.

I must say if I had parted with that sort of money only to have found that
It would have been back on the sellers drive way within 24 hrs like it or not! 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

I think cars / motors have very different rules than the rest of ebay.

We won a very low mileage Disco a couple of years ago, paid for it went to collect it and the seller had changed his mind - Ebay didn't want to know and it took months to get the money back.
