Hi All, I'm a new owner of a 2.2 Puma 110 XS Station Wagon and already an avid reader of Defender2.net. Just curious if it is possible to get a NAS style rear step withOUT the tow hitch?
We have a HD Dixon Bate adjustable tow hitch which is well braced and just looks very robust and I'd like to keep the height adjustment. I do however really like the appearance the NAS step gives to the rear of the vehicle, as well as looking practical to use with the full width step. It looks like just the step part would easily fit over the top of the Dixon hitch if it was available without the tow hitch element? Just curious, thank for your help. |

Or you could buy the Masai one with the hole for the US style 2" receiver if you prefer

Bowler do a set of steps that go either side of a original tow bar but there not cheap

I'm not sure what you are referring to as the tow hitch element. The rear of the step platform runs snuggly against the rear crossmember so would be impossibe to fit with your existing kit without cutting a section in the middle out.
You could mount the Dixon Bate kit to the rear step bumper but some would take issue with the lack of bracing to the lower edge. It seems the Bowler solution may be your best compromise: Click image to enlarge |

With the issues of the NAS rear step rusting and looking at the pictures the Bowler ones look like it may be money well spent irrespective of the inflated price perhaps and a great compromise to retain your current towing setup?
