I'm quite torn about it, a huge part of me want to encourage her into driving my 110 and nurture it so that when she comes to buy her one she will be looking at 110s rather than Kia Piccantos or Renault Twingos....

But yet when she turns to me and says "Can I drive?" my instant reaction is "no, mine!" and I have to suppress it!

Still it is early days yet and she needs much more practice before she can go do her test.

Can't wait until she can afford her own though, another 110 on the drive is only ever going to be a good thing.

Unless I get a 130 and then give her the 110 to drive......Hummmm. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

It would be good if the gf would drive it but she's a little intimidated by it's size and what appears to be heavy steering and agricultural gears.

Maybe an auto box and a silky smooth 3 litre V6 in the replacement will change her mind. She had a drive in a Jackal and loved that!

I can understand that,..I'm a bit like that myself with "strange" cars!
But, easily fixed. Just get GF on a quiet road, get her to spend an hour or so with some "no stress mucking about" (withe car??!!) on a few occasions, & she'd soon be right.
It'd be fair to say that I drive Gracie most of the time, mainly because Wifey knows how much I enjoy it, but I get a lot of additional enjoyment when she says "It's my turn now"!
Only in a Defender? Pickles.

I hate it when Glo goes in for work! Looks wrong somebody else behind the wheel.

So far only me and my mother - I let her have a go because she's thinking of getting another and she's driven LR before...

I'd like to get the wife interested in it a bit but she's not too keen just yet, intimidated by the bus-like size and handling!

Ha, what a bizarre lot you are! I have always encouraged anyone to drive my 4x4s. In the past I have let parents use them, neighbours, fellow 4x4 club members. I always look at it this way, off-road I treat them pretty rough and if something breaks then that is good because it either needed fixing anyway or presents an opportunity to improve. Nobody is likely to be as hard on them as I am (that's not saying I drive them badly) so if I am unlikely to break something then neither are they.

Strangely, it always gave me a bit of a thrill watching my wife drive the 90 or my Cherokee XJ up the road on her way to work on the days when we swapped cars. She hasn't even sat in my current one yet and I have had it over 6 months Sad

Seeing as the 110 is our only vehicle I have to let S.H.M.B.O. drive.

I don't have any problems with it

When we had a Land Rover each when we were working I would drive what vehicle the keys fitted that I had picked up. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to Censored us off.
