Apologies for another clutch thread, but....
I ordered a new clutch, slave cylinder, plastic adapter, valve plus a load of other unrelated bits for the 110 - a late 2007 2.4 tdci The slave (LR068979 oem part) looked a little different but appeared to be the same basic dimensions. The adapter that pushes through the bell housing LR031188 was the same as the old, it is the first time I've used these push and snap hydraulic connectors and it all seemed fine when assembled. When I managed to get everything back together, you've guessed it fluid p*ss*d out of the bell housing, not a happy bunny. Have tried googling the part numbers but Island appear to be the only people listing the LR068979 - does anyone know the correct numbers, is it the slave or adapter thats wrong & more importantly does anyone in the midlands have a new one I could pick up and replace tomorrow??!! Is it coming out the bell housing or out the pipe fitting on the outside

Bellhousing, I think its the joint between the adapter and the slave cylinder.
I think I've got an early (correct for my truck) adapter and a late slave cylinder, although when I ordered it I wasn't aware there were any differences. |

Yes, the cylinder has a short female pipe on it and the adapter has the male end with a O ring and 90 degree bend on the top.
I don't want to risk using the old cylinder, original to the truck and 100k now, was hoping someone in the west mids might have a new one in stock I could borrow and replace so I could get it back together! |

No - the joint between the two is iffy - the standard pieces don't engage properly - what I thought was the two snapping together, was the O ring engaging in the bell housing.
I used the old adapter and cut a small lug off that locates on the bell housing, this let it push further into the cylinder and engaged properly and clipped in place - but its not correct and I'm doing preventative maintenance to help make sure I don't get problems, not engineer them in, hence trying to find out which bit is wrong Cheers Keith |
