Weedkiller
Can anyone recommend a really effective weed killer for use on gravel drives? Plenty out there, but the weeds seem to spend about a week on the naughty step before returning full of vigour. One wife - livid

You can maybe get it cheaper in a shop like Wickes etc.
Comes pre mixed and with a spray head built in for spot application or broadcast.

I use this

Kills everything in sight.

Usually get it from the local farm supplies store.

Resolva, is a good weed killer I have used it on my paths. However no matter what it says about being effective in 24 hours it will take up to thirty days to kill the weed especially those weeds that have a deep tap root and if it rains during that period you will need to keep using the weed killer for it to be successful.
To be fair the best form of weed control is to dig the bug*ers out making sure you get all of the root out.

Just as a warning glyphosate weed killers though low in toxicity can harm pets especially when wet. Best advice if you have dogs or cats is not to let them near where you have applied the weed killer until it is completely dry. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Rain during application or after application doesn't help at all I don't think what ever you do.

I used a selective one earlier this year Verdone Extra for a paddock, I was disappointed to be honest.
Did sod all to docks the very thing I wanted it to do, the only thing it was effective on very well was nettles male not female / dead nettles. Rolling Eyes

The worst I've ever used is Weedol concentrate you that you mix. That is usless!

Some weed killers as far as I'm aware especially the concentrates you need a spraying certificate for unless it's one of those grey areas again. Rolling Eyes (Perhaps that's just a recommendation)
I suppose it depends on application and desired use etc between agricultural, small holding or domestic.

Currently with this weather the weeds will win as you can't do anything. Yet! Whistle

Talking about useless weed killers I bought one of those gas wands, yes it burns all the leaves but a week later the weeds all sprout up again, absolutely a waste of time. Now use the thing to light bonfires and the barbecue. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Many thanks all for these responses. The Resolva one I've tried but it wasn't very good. The Gallup 360 one sounds as if it might do the job. They always come back, these weeds, but the longer I can make them stay away ....... One wife - livid

Tubes are a waste of time, not sure what they did to the formula, however, in mu experience not worth it. The best by far IMHO is Weedol Fast Acting weed killer in the granules format definitely not the liquid sachets. 2 sachets of Weedol Granules to 5 litres of water in a sprayer is really effective. happy to know there is better out there, however, I have not found it.

Thanks again for the suggestions. Having read the reviews I've ordered the Gallup 360 one and will get a back pack sprayer. One from Screwfix gets a good write up. Thanks again Ian One wife - livid

Dandelions, grass type weeds, self seeded horse chestnut seedlings, stuff I don't even know the name of, self seeded ash. According to the comments on Amazon also works on ivy. Plenty of work for it. If the large majority of on line comments are accurate sounds pretty good stuff. We shall see anyway. Ian One wife - livid

Round -up concentrate and make it up as you go along. Available in one litre bottles or 5 litre cans, kills everything mind so watch for overspray. I buy it in 5 litre cans here and it lasts me 2 seasons maybe 3.

In your case which is sort of a domestic situation put a good squirt of cheap washing up liquid in the ready to apply mix. The washing up liquid acts as a "wetter" and makes the chemical "stick" to the foliage making it more effective

Thanks - would never have thought of that. Hopefully the deadest and cleanest weeds. Thanks again for the thought. Wait for the weed killer to arrive, buy the sprayer and off we go. One wife - livid
